I recently purchased a pair of Mk4 Hot Pink GHD's from Ebay. My advice to other potential buyers..... Don't!

I purchased them from a reputable seller wth good feedback, and was very careful at scanning the market before I commited myself to buying. I finally chose a pair that were UK based, and it all went downhill from there!

I purchased the straighteners on christmas eve (payday!!) and paid immediately through Paypal. Soon after buying them I went onto ebay, and couldn't find the item in my won box, watched box or even my feedback reminders. I thought this was strange, until I opened my inbox. In my inbox was a message from ebay, telling me that for reasons they could not disclose, my item had been removed from ebay and I was no longer obliged to pay for the item. As I had already paid, I started to panic. I then went onto paypal and set a dispute up that I had paid but not received the item. This dispute was raised up to a claim, as I was determined to get my money back.

The seller had 10 days to provide tracking information to paypal, and did so on the last day!! I was gutted, and then felt a slight momentary lapse of relief when they arrived and looked amazing. I opened the box, which was sealed and in the original genuine packaging. I took the straighteners out of the box and was surprised to see black plates. I was expecting pink ones, but I simply shrugged it off and assumed they were real because they looked amazingly convincing.

My problems started when I tried to register them. They had holograms fitting of all descriptions I had read online, and I even read ebay guides and looked for the signs of fake irons. Mine had NONE of these signs, so I was pretty happy, until I got told on the GHD website that the code wasnot recognised and to get in touch with them IMMEDIATELY! I looked around on the internet and stumbled across a webpage which identified the "difference" between real and fake irons. At the bottom of the page was this sentence:

"If the straighteners contain this serial code (6uveg v5myc wk15s) then they are fake, as they are the serial codes that I myself found on my iron, and I found when looking on the internet."

This was my serial code too. So as you can probably imagine I am absolutely seething with rage over these straighteners that have caused me nothing but grief. I am hoping to resolve my dispute very soon with paypal, and you can bet your bottom dollar I will be appealing if I do not win, as I have been ripped off in every sense of the word. Please please please do not buy staighteners from anywhere but the official site; im sure you would rather spend an extra 30 quid on the straighteners than pay for 2 pairs! Think about it, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!
