OK, im just giving you guys some quick and easy tips before you buy guitars on ebay, or anywhere else second hand for that matter. These tips are in no particular order and are all very important.

1) Fake guitars:
I'm sure you all know about the Chinese "Ibanez" that you can get on ebay, which are not really Ibanez at all.Generally, if the postage is higher than the cost of the guitar, its a fake. Check the Ibanez website and read the warning at the top for full details.
Another thing to point out is if the guitar looks wrong, it is wrong. I saw someone the other day trying to sell a "Fender Les Paul" which actually looked more like an Explorer, and we all know that fender and gibson as rivals tend to not copy eachothers designs (Exept the Kramer by Gibson, which resembles a Strat). Do your research if you see something 'rare', see if you can find information about it on the brands official website.

2) Damaged guitars:
Look carefully at the pictures, and if there isnt enough, ask the seller to email you more.If they refuse, DON'T BUY IT! There clearly hiding something. The kind of things your looking for is cracks in the wood. Ask for pictures of where the head joins the neck, and where the neck joins the guitar, and just about anywhere else you like. Another good idea is to ask for pictures looking down the neck so you can see its not twisted at all. If the seller lives nearby, ask if you can have a look at the guitar in person. Also if you do that you can have a go to make sure its right for you.

3) Ask questions. A genuine seller wont mind you asking lots of questions, because then they know your interested.

4) Projects are a good idea to get a cheap guitar, but make sure you know what your doing. There more complicated than they look, espechally with the guitars without scratchplates, where you have to solder pretty much everything to everything. If you know what your doing though, you can make yourself a good quality guitar for about £200.

5)Guitar Lessons. Im sure you have all noticed the millions of people selling DVDs to teach you how to play guitar. There is generally nothing wrong with these, but real lessons from real people will benefit you much more. Most music shops will have contacts of people who can do it, so just ask in your local one. Also, if you see the same person with 20 listings of a guitar tutorial DVD, then you can safely assume he just copied the DVD, in which case it may not work on your DVD player.

I hope this guide was helpful, and prevents people getting scammed!
