Hello and welcome to my guide on how to get full HD movies on your P.C.
This guide is for HD-DVD's, now discontinued, but going cheap, this is now the budget way for having the full HD experience.
Most things for the XBOX 360 is compatible with P.C's, the controllers for example, and the HD-DVD is no exception, although it's not quite plug and play!
Items you will need!
1: A xbox HD-DVD drive, available for around £20, give or take a few pounds.
2: HD-DVD film / films, most are available now for under the £6 tag, and they are recent films.
3: A P.C., modest speed dual core processor minimum, and a decent amount of memory, say 2GB's
4: Quite important, A Graphics card that can handle Full HD, one with HDMI output ports is a bonus, these can be tricky to find for P.C's with an AGP slot, most full HD cards fit PCI express slots.
5: Software, Cyberlink PowerDVD 6.5 is designed to run HD-DVD's, it is available, there is other software, but Cyberlink works on my system!
6: A monitor with the desired output resolution, which is 1920 by 1080, higher is better though!
How to!!!! Note: works on windows XP professional, I'm not sure about Windows Vista
First, install PowerDVD software, unpack your HD-DVD drive, make sure your computer is connected to the internet as when you plug the HD-DVD drive in, windows automatically install drivers, the disc the HD-DVD drive comes with is useless for P.C's., plug in HD-DVD drive, wait for drivers to install, restart system, that should do it!
Cyberlink PwerDVD 6.5 has a tenancy not to autodetect HD-DVD's, so you'll have to open the program prior to inserting a HD-DVD!
Enjoy your budget Full HD experience, I did, I hope you do too!
