Need help with understanding wireless networking? Here is a little thing to help you.

What is it? With a wireless internet connection you can access the web anywhere in your house without having to plug in. This means that kids can research assignments from their bedrooms or you can order groceries online while looking in the kitchen cupboards. And, if you have a PC and a laptop, both can be on the internet at the same time.

To be wireless you need a router, the hub of the home network. Your router may look like this:

If you want to make your existing desktop PC wireless too, you'll need a USB adaptor. Your USB adaptor may look like this:

For laptops without WI-FI built in you will also need a laptop network adaptor card. Your wireless card may look like this:
