I have just come across today probably the biggest rip off and exploitation of an innocent customer ever. This relates to one of my customers buying from me a replacement motherboard for his Advent computer, originally bought and repaired a number of times since warranty expired by a BIG SHOP in the high street. His motherboard blew, it was replaced by "the shop" at a cost of £180. it never worked properly since, and many of the functions built into these Advent pc's no longer functioned. He came to me via my ebay for a board to correct all the issues. His pc according to a product model search is a socket 775 based intel pentium 4 3.4 ghz. The customer then advised me that he had looked at "system information" on XP and it said it was a 2.8ghz socket 478.He then sent some pictures to me over the email of the inside of his pc.This first confirmed that it was indeed a socket 478 pc with a 2.8ghz processor, but that the reason why none of his items no longer worked, was due to the fact that there were cables that should have been plugged into items on the motherboard were not plugged in. The reason why they were not plugged in was that the board change has supplemented an older style socket 478 board in place of his socket 775 and most of the items would not plug in as there were no places to plug them into or the cable were too short to reach where they should be plugged into because of the different architecture. Not only that the pc sticker on the front that this BIG SHOP puts on all their pc's still said it was an Intel Pentium 4 socket LGA775 3.4ghz processor! Now tell me WHO IS RIPPING OFF WHO ??
