How do I connect my old Printer to my New Laptop ?

If you have an old Printer with the old style Parallel Port connection (about 2 inches wide) you will find that all new Laptops and some New Desktops simply don't have this connection anymore.

This is perfectly normal.

This style of connector makes the printer very slow compared to the new Standard called USB.

If you want to keep the old printer then one of the following items are required :-

  • A USB to Centronics Cable about £10.
  • For a Laptop only a PCMCIA to Centronics cable about £25.
  • For a Desktop only a PCI Parallel Port card abut £10.
