What to consider when choosing a Teaching Resource Bag
The Bag
Teaching resource bags need to be sturdy and durable to withstand plenty of wear and tear in a busy classroom. Choose a bag made of cotton, denim or coloured hopsack.
Choose an eye-catching colour to grab the interest of your students.
Choose attractive lettering or symbols that children will recognise and even if they can't read the word they will be able to associate the bag with the activity.
How you might use a teaching resource bag
Song bags could be used in a variety of ways. It could be used to put instruments in. It could be used to put items in such as a star, a sheep and an egg so if children pull out the star they need to think of a song for everyone to sing about a star- such as "twinkle twinkle little star"- or a sheep - "Baa Baa Black sheep" - or the egg - "Humpty Dumpty". It could be filled with animals when singing "Old MacDonald had a farm". It could be filled with 5 speckled frogs and a log and a blue scarf pool when singing "Five little speckled frogs".
