Hello and welcome!
Thankyou for taking a few minutes to read my brief guide on how to spot fake Lyle & Scott Polos. This guide was created because my friends recently bought themselves
Lyle & Scott polos off ebay, only to find out they are not genuine.
For those younger people like myself, you might not think that buying
a 10pound fake is a big of a deal, but for me its all about the history,
its all about the feeling of quality, you dont get that with a fake.
Lyle & Scott is a world famous golfing brand which was established in Scotland, Its golden eagle
is recognized the world over.
The real thing
During my experience on Ebay i have noticed that fake polos have the wrong style of tags. on the OFFICIAL Lyle & Scott websiteit shows that the tags should be of a booklet design, i.e. a piece of card folded
over to reveal more information inside. The material used to attached the booklet
to the polo is also important, it should be of golden colour, and of a woolen material.
Most fake polos have a single sheet tag with plastic attachments
Other noticeable things are the colour of the polo, if the seller advertises the polo
to be "Sky blue" and it is indeed sky blue colour, it is fake. If you go to
www.lyleandscott.com you will see that the official "sky blue" polo is indeed the same
colour as the reviews and guide search bar area.
Other features of fake polos are the colours of the buttons, real lyle & Scott buttons
are a greyish colour, but when looked at closely appear to look like an oil stain, its hard
to explain, but if the polo you are viewing has clear buttons its a fake.
Also lyle & scott polos retail at £45 each, so why would anyone sell 20 of them at 19.99 each?
YES there are the odd finds which sell genuine polos for 20quid because there second hand,
but one or two spins the washing machine before wearing it, and you've saved yourself 20/30 quid.
a final point to say is that REAL l&s polos will have the eagle between the SECOND AND THIRD buttons. if the shirt you want to buy has an eagle BELOW THE THIRD button it is a FAKE.
Examples
Notice how the tag is attached with a piece of plastic and how its a simple sheet, NOT a bookelt
as it should be. Also notice the colour of the buttons, they should be a dark colour, greyish/blackish
is what to look for.
This picture below is a tricky one to watch out for. YES there seems to be a booklet looking tag
but take a look closely at the eagle. It should be in line with the LAST button, not below, not higher.
And finally i will show you what a REAL lyle & scott polo should look like
