Applying window tints doesn't have to be hard - use our how to
tint guide to find out how to get a professional window tint finish
without spending hundreds getting a car tinting expert to do it for
you!
The first thing I will say is - don't waste your money on expensive
pre-cut window film. Cutting out tint from a roll is simple and
gives you a much bigger margin for error.
Pre cut window tint is
cut to the exact shape of your car window so you will spend hours trying to line
it up exactly. When you cut the tint yourself, cut it slightly larger than the
window then you can simply trim it down to fit when it's on the window - easy.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to tint your car windows:
1. IMPORTANT! Start with a clean car, and a relatively dust and wind
free environment. Clean and dry all windows inside and out using window cleaner
and a dish cloth or a cloth that will not leave bits on the window. Run a razor
blade flat across the glass to ensure all little bits are removed - any dirt
left will be very obvious once applied.
2. Cut your tint to the required
size by using a template - hold a piece of newspaper up to your window and draw
around it. As I said before, cut the tint slightly larger than your
window.
3. Spray the inside of your window with plenty of water/soap
mixture.
4. Separate the clear lining piece from the window film - an
easy way to do this is with 2 small pieces of adhesive tape on either side of
the film.
5. Spray the exposed adhesive surface on the window tint with
the water/soap solution.
6. Attach the window film to the window. Lay the
film near the bottom of the soapy wet glass first and slide it down into
position as you lay the top into position.
7. Squeegee excess water from
the film, working from the centre outwards.
8. Trim film as necessary.
9. Your new window film will take about 3 to 5 days to fully dry,
sometimes longer depending on weather conditions. Until this time your tinted
windows may appear hazy or lumpy, and it may seem to have water bubbles. Do not
roll your tinted windows down until dry!
We have rolls of window tint available in our store which are big enough to tint all the windows on your car.
