What If I buy a new sky box, what will I have to do?
It is a question I am always being asked. If you buy a new Sky receiver all you will need to do is plug the correct cables in to the box, make sure your card is in the box and wait for the box to tune in the channels, it shouldn’t take long but boxes are regionalised so they pick up the local BBC & ITV’s which can take a little longer.
Once the box has found the channels you can sit back and enjoy your new sky box. The only time you will need to ring Sky is if you subscribe to a Premium channel i.e. Sports or Movies, then you will need to marry the card to the box, this doesn’t take any time. Remember that if you have brought a second box for another location and want to use the same card then you will need to ring Sky every time you want the Sports and Movies on that box, again this doesn’t apply to any other subscription.
A few tips in connecting the box.
Make sure the box is switched off before connecting cables.
Make sure the card is inserted
Use a Scart to connect the box, it makes things so much easier
Don’t force software down loads, it can ruin the box.
If the box has missing channels or running slow it may require new software, Sky will down load this at no cost, as of the 05.03.2006 the software is 3.4.
