LIBYA - 2008 Beijing Olympics
The Libyan Posts (GPTC General Posts and Telecommunications Company) dedicated one stamp to the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing (August 8-24, 2008).
Stamp size mm.35x50, printed in sheets of 28 stamps. The issue was completed by a special FDC.
The stamp was officially released on August 18th.
Due to the late date of issue (after the beginning of the Games), this stamp was not considered and purchased by the most part of world stamp wholesale dealers. As a consequence, it was not distributed through the usual retail commercial channels and quite all philatelic collectors were not even aware of its existence.
It is our opinion that in the next months "olympic" collectors will search for this stamp in order to complete their Beijing 2008 collections.
Some Countries issued olympic stamps "by weight". Libya just one ... but it will make the difference!
