Listen to the rythm of the music as you learn this ever more popular dance. You can learn the basis Salsa steps in under an hour and sashay all over the dance floor before you know it.

Step One

Get into position by facing your partner. If you are the leader, place your right hand on your partners waist, slightly around the bcak. Extend your left arm diagonally to chest height with your elbow bent at a right angle and your palm raised. Grasp your partners right hand in a loose grip, your partners left hand should be on your right shoulder.

Step Two

On the first beat step forward with your left foot. Your partner will mirrow your movements throughout the dance for example , on the first beat she will step backward on her right foot.

Step Three

Step in place with your right foot on the second beat.

Step Four

Step back with your left foot on the third beat so that you are in the starting position, and hold in place for the fourth beat.

Step Five

Step back with your right foot on the fifth beat.

Step Six

 Step in place with your left foot on the sixth beat.

Step Seven

Step forward with your right foot on the seventh beat so that you are back in the starting position, and hold for the eighth beat.

Step Eight

Repeat, starting at step two.

Tips and warnings.

More complicated moves can be added once you have mastered the simple eight step movement. Act sassy while dancing but do not use exaggerated hip movement. That sexy swing will come naturally as you let yourself feel the rythm.
