Following various eBayers' questions about Molton Brown and what would I recommend, I've decided to compile my definitive guide to the best 10 Molton Brown products men cannot do without. This is currently limited to unisex and men products as I doubt I'll be testing any of the make-up range :oP Please note that these are my views and are open to interpretation. I've based my selection on product performance, value for money, versatility and aesthetic impact.

No. 10: Purifying Plum-Kadu Hairwash
Irregardless of how stressed or tired you are, this superb shampoo lifts your spirits and refreshes. One wash is enough to strip away the grime of the city and leaves your hair light, purified and delicately scented. The bottle is ingeniously designed and extremely comfortable to use. I remember using this (followed by Purifying Plum-Kadu Haircondition) for the first time and was simply amazed by how clean and shiny my hair looked after just one shampoo!

No. 9: Papain Daily Facial Wash
This foamless cleanser contains papaya plant enzymes which deep cleanses the skin without stripping away moisture. Can be used as a shaving gel as it allows the blade to glide oh so smoothly over your skin. The colour and fragrance is such a delight to the senses. Use daily to gently (and effectively) remove dead skin cells and promote a healthy complexion.

No. 8: Blissful Templetree Moisture Bath & Shower
If you are into heady, exotic fragrances, then nothing else comes close to the intoxicating scent of the tropical Frangipani (Templetree as it is known in India). This is indispensable on beach holidays as it soothes sun-kissed skin and leaves you smelling expensive and divine. Follow up with Blissful Templetree Moisture Bodybalm to moisturise and repair sun-stressed skin.

No. 7: Depth Charge Seednoir Prewash Hair-Therapy
Give your hair a boost of strength and added shine with this prewash. A unique blend of fragrant essential oils that repairs damaged hair and also helps revitalise your scalp, this product will turn even the most lack-lustre hair around. The 100ml will last you for a very long time. Be warned, others will keep wanting to touch your hair after this.

No. 6: Skin Defence Daily Protector
Molton Brown's Ultra Light Bai Ji Hydrator is a great product, but I think that the Skin Defence Daily Protector is fantastic. The former is too light as a moisturiser. However, as a post-shave balm, it is super as it will calm and repair the skin. Molton Brown's Skin Defence Daily Protector is a far superior moisturiser, instantly absorbed and leaving skin smooth, protected and looking instantly healthy. Although both are equally priced at £25 (price adjusted last year), the Skin Defence Daily Protector comes in a 75ml plastic tube and the Ultra Light Bai Ji Hydrator comes in a (rather expensively produced) 100ml glass bottle. Makes you wonder what you are paying for.

No. 5: Re-charge Black Pepper Body Lotion
If you are a Black Pepper addict, then this is a must-have! I've not listed the Black Pepper Body Wash in the top 10 as I feel that it is an over-rated item. Don't get me wrong, I do like it, but not as much as those listed. This however, is a daily routine. We're talking about the new pump bottle body lotion launched before Christmas last year, not the tube form. What's great about it is the fast absorption, a smooth fluid lotion that doesn't feel like you've doused yourself in grease. On top of that, the great anti-oxidant black pepper fragrance. Boost your Black Pepper Body Wash with this lotion or use it after any other shower gel to give you the same Black Pepper stimulation!

No. 4: Thermal Salts Muscle Soak
Gardeners, sportsmen, and generally all those hard-working bodies out there need to get their sweaty hands on a bottle of this muscle relaxing body soak. 2 capfuls in a bath will melt those aches away and restore a sense of well-being. It's the closest you can get to a health spa at home. Little known fact: mix a capful with Bracing Silverbirch or Black Pepper (or try any other shower gel) and you get the most invigorating body scrub. Now that's versatility!

No. 3: Cooling Body Splash
This 30ml bottle is not for sale at Molton Brown. What you can buy is the 50ml Cool Eau de Toilette at £35. On eBay, this little gem can be found going for a mere £1. Although it is not as potent as the Cool Eau de Toilette, it is definitely a lot less dearer. You do your maths! Great as a pick-me-up, this fragrance refreshes, leaving you cool, calm and collected.

No. 2: Heavenly Gingerlily Moisture Bath & Shower
Extremely popular with the ladies, this is unisex bath & shower therapy that will leave you floating off to island paradise. Contains Tamanu Nut Oil that leaves the skin superbly smooth and moisturised, and a fragrance that sweeps you off to Tahiti, this highly pampering therapy is great as an aftersun wash. If the women love this, imagine what they'll think of men that smell this exotic.

No. 1: Bracing Silverbirch Body Wash
Nope, it is not the Black Pepper Body Wash. Molton Brown's Bracing Silverbirch Body Wash is a powerhouse of a shower gel that wakes you up to the stimulating freshness of the Nordic Pine Forests. No, it does not smell of Dettol! Far more sophisticated and packs a punch that invigorates and prepares you for the challenges that lay ahead of the day. If energy can be bottled, I would imagine that this is how it should smell like. What a way to wake up! For an added boost, try the Bracing Silverbirch Body Scrub for the ultimate wake up call.

The Shortlist:
Re-Charge Black Pepper Body Wash – A firm favourite with men and women alike. A fragrance like no other in the market, it awakens and detoxifies skin.
Defining Caju Hair-Texture – Give your hair the natural hold. This cream gel is light and exquisitely fragrant.
Vitalising Vitamin AB+C Bath & Shower – Too bad Toko-Yuzu replaced this. A great pick-me-up, so stock up before it disappears.
Travel Companion Lip Balm – Not sold in the stores, this super lip balm delivers without the gloopy, greasy feel. One of the best lip balms around, it's worth its weight in gold.
