rule 1; ALL MACRO LENSES ARE GOOD

there are no bad true (=NOT the xx-yyy zoom lenses with macro function!!) macro lenses, whether nikon/sigma/... with the exception of some far away russian brands, all are made to a high degree of accuracy

rule 2; USE MAINLY MANUAL FOCUS

in my 16 years of photographic experience with all kinds of manual and auto focus camera's (film and digital) , i have used MF with 99% of my macro pics (no use buying an expensive AF lens); handheld holding your camera will bring out of focus the object you are trying to shoot by just breathing hard (chest movement), you focus the camera+lens by doing a rough focus on the lens and then moving your body ever so slightly back and forward the object

---> the above will fix you up with a cheap ($100us) Tamron 90mm f2.5 that does 1:2 or lifesize 1:1 with adapter

you will NOT get better image quality with other lenses; these other lenses are just as good (but usually more expensive)

depending on your macro work of course, around 100mm is a good general  range, there are other ranges; 60mm (too small), 200mm f4 (f2.8=better and the nikon 200mm is very very expensive), tamron 180mm f3.5 good range and lens, but f2.8 would be better, and so on
