Anyone who makes greeting cards or scrapbooks will know just how expensive it can be buying all the lovely little things that make their items look good. Here are just a few tips to help you save your hard earned cash.
1. Backing papers / Scrapbooking papers can cost anywhere upto and sometimes over £1 per sheet. Why not make your own ? You'll be able to print them off whenever you need them.
2. Foil papers are really costly. Normal kitchen foil makes a great alternative to mirror card and for smaller pieces how about sweet wrappers, the gold foil on ferrero rocher can be used flattened out or crumpled, looks great when making champagne bottles or fancy perfume bottles.
3. Ostrich Feathers can also be quite at around £1.50 for only 10 whereas a feather duster will cost around 99p and you'll have loads of feathers. These come in lots of nice bright colours too.
4. Old greeting cards make great toppers, simply cut out the picture and layer onto a sheet of coloured card.
5. Decoupage sheets will only give you one finished item and cost around £1, buying a sheet of suitable wrapping paper can cost as little as 50p and give you upto 6 finished items.
6. Liquid Crystal (same as liquid pearl but with glitter) will cost you around £2.30 for a small bottle, try childrens glitter glue pens at 99p for 10.
