I think it is wrong that many eBay sellers are buying brand new boxes and packaging materials when, the chance are that there is tons of it within a few miles of your home / office.

Most businesses have to pay to dispose of excess packaging materials, and none of the places I've approached have turned me down, you are saving them money after all.

I use a range of boxes, from very small to very large and here's my ideas on where to get them from.

Where to go.

• Your local cycle shop, push-bikes come in large, very sturdy boxes. These are great for items that are not too thick (I send car wings and doors in these boxes)
• Your local electrical wholesalers - the kind of specialist that sells bulbs, fuses, household wiring accesories etc. These places are great for a range of boxes. They are also brilliant for bubble wrap and shreaded card, as a lot of the items they get into stock are over-protected, so they don't get damaged.
  
• Clothes shops - these are great for large square boxes, as these are what clothes are delivered in.
• Your local supermarket - if you've ever been around the back of one of these places, they usually have skips full of flattened cardboard boxes. Ask them nicely, and they'll probably let you take some.(Don't get ones that have had refidgerated / frozen goods though, they will be soggy and will fall apart)

We all have a responsibility to reduce the amount of packaging that is produced every year, if all sellers did it this way, there would be a lot less trees cut down.
