Troubled in the electric starter region. The starter motor magnets break off the housing and rub the motor. This gives the symptoms of slow starting turnover and some extra noise.

Repair is not effectively possible , there is a kit for the Valeo starter motor, but there may be unseen damage to the windings.

Moto guzzi are aware of the problem, and a revised system for sticking the magnets on is now in place on new motors.

These motors are expensive for their type. Mine let go at just 13,000 miles. The cost of replacement is approx. £150.
