Buying a Motorcycle or ATV Quad workshop and service manual
Without doubt there is nothing better than getting home your new quad or ATV and hopefully it’s the start of a long fun relationship
Rule one is get to know your new baby and find out all you can about her
Best way is through a workshop manual or service manual, yep owners manuals are good for basic data and daily checks etc but for more detail get a factory backed manual
Back up copies of work shop manuals are now available for all the popular models:
BEWARE !
But you have to be careful and check the specification of manual you are buying. ATV, Quad and Moto cross or Enduro wise its not so bad most large ATVs are US made and similar in spec to EEC models except for the Californian versions
Even a Californian manual is great for looking up torque settings and chassis queries and general disassembly, maintenance and re assembly but be warned major differences can be found on wiring diagrams, carbs, exhaust systems, and base engine settings which if applied to a UK or EEC model would end in tears and a large bill!
Also when selecting your manual be careful not to just buy a supplement for your specific year, as vehicles get modified by the factory supplementary editions are published but must be used with the original base manual otherwise you can be half way through a job and be missing the essential data!
Generally I have found the following versions to be 100% reliable and effective:
