PACKETPOST, PPI and BUSINESS COLLECTIONS
useful stationery items
These are the stationery items which I find useful when using Royal Mail's packet post, ppi and business collection; depending on your own business plan and the requirements of your local sorting office, you may find that your requirements are slightly different.
Mailing sacks you get from your Postman.
These other item you get from Royal Mail, either by emailing (see my Useful Links for PacketPost and PPI page) or by ringing 0845 795 0950, option 6.

-
these ask you for the docket number and your details but as they don't specify what details, everyone seems to use something different - I use my licence number - and to be honest, I've tried sending them with no details on, and it seems to make no difference at all;
-
some people say that they don't use them at all;
-
some people say they don't separate out first and second class; however, RM has been trialling the POs separating mail into different sacks and this seems to be going live across the country now (Sept.07); from October 29th you will be expected to separate out each format and class;
-
I would suggest that you check with your own local Sorting Office as to what they want you to do.

SS981 Yellow Posting Pouches for posting cheques/OBA orders/pages from P6565 (you don't have to use these, you can put your paperwork straight in the mailing sack, but I find that this keeps them clean and prevents them getting lost (if this happens you'll be asked to provide duplicates, I found it happened about once every ten days) and trampled on when the contents of the sack are emptied out onto the sorting room floor). Order about five; you put your name and address in a little pocket inside and fix one to one of your sacks at each collection, and it comes back in the post the next day.

RMJ067A4 Royal Mail Price Guide - a 40-page A4 booklet with all the prices, discounts, marketing services etc.
When you place your first order you'll need everything, but as you then use things at different rates, and as they come in different quantities anyway, you'll find you need to reorder only in small quantities. Allow approximately one week for them to arrive.
If you don't want to use items 1 and 3, thegothicshop has designed an all-in-one form which Royal Mail has approved, and which they will be happy to send to you on request (you still need to use the SD/ISF book as the top copy goes off with the parcel(s)). Please ebay message them with your userid so that they can email it to you.
