How many times do you see sellers stating " I will not be responsible for damage occurring  in the post".  Ask yourself who the seller is telling this information to?  It certainly cannot be the buyer !!  Sellers ARE responsible for packing correctly, the GPO will not entertain claims if the parcel  for example a mint boxed Corgi model is thrown in a jiffy bag and ends up crushed !!  Always ask the seller (politely) if they will outer box your model using bubble wrap or polystyrene chips within before you bid, most will happily oblige.  If they won't, don't bid as the box may already be damaged before they send it and leave you blaming the GPO.  Another aspect in the  description I have found is sellers describing their model as Mint & Boxed. The car of course should be mint as the description claims, but this does not always mean the box is mint !  It is always pertinent to ask about the condition and originality of the box if the box is important to you.  Just be aware !!
Cheers Dave
