Modern technology has utilized the extraordinary properties of quartz to power radio transmission and reception, development of computers, watches, optical technology AND it is known that placing small quartz crystals in water will ionize the water and make it good for drinking, purifying and healing!

A person will usually be attracted to a crystal they will use, responding to the frequencies produced by the crystal! As with all psychic activity this initial 'attraction' need not be limited by space and time - in other words it is possible to receive senses of the vibrations simply by seeing a picture of a crystal! - Though many still argue with this.

Indeed many psychic activities these days are proven to be effective via the internet, telephone and letter writing as these 'powers' are not restrained by the usual physical order of things. There is a plane beyond which we can readily see that operates with a unique set of physical laws - ones that we do not yet (if ever) understand or control!

Each crystal vibrates at different frequencies depending on inclusions and type of quartz - in other words depending on it's unique make up. Also the larger the crystal ball, the stronger it's energies - which is why we are naturally attracted to HUGE crystal balls!

I do feel crystal becomes brighter the more it is used. I also believe it absorbs it's surroundings including light, moonlight, sunlight, artificial light, chaos, peace etc. Resonating different personalities at different times of the day and in different situations, ever changing, sometimes looking completely different than others!

PREPARE YOURSELF!

Is there such a thing as a perfect crystal – what is perfection anyway? is it lack of experience, innocence, naivety? I would say striving to find the perfect crystal is as dull and pointless as trying to find the perfect human being. Let’s face it, a multidimensional personality is far more interesting, exciting and educational than one who possesses no faults, flaws or ‘colour’! Life is made up of light and dark, good and bad, beauty and ugliness, this is what gives us perspective and balance. This is the mark of experience and wisdom gained.

What is more important is finding a crystal that you feel you can relate to. One that will communicate with you and provide you with the necessary energy that you need at that time. This is why once you begin your journey into the world of crystal you will find it hard to not add to your collection at different times.

Sometimes you will have favourites, sometimes you will spend more time with one crystal than another, this is your intuition working to provide you with the tools that you need at that particular time.

Always trust your intuition, especially where crystals are concerned, this is how they speak to you, how they absorb and reflect your thoughts with greater clarity. Learning to crystal gaze is learning how to clear the muddle in your mind and allow yourself to see things you wouldn't have otherwise seen.

Always BUT ALWAYS have good intentions when crystal gazing. Negativity given out will hit you back times ten! You have been warned!

To give you precise instructions on how to crystal gaze is not really my intention here. If this is what you feel you need there are many good books and articles written on the subject.

I am a great believer in trusting your own judgment. There is only so much theory you can read, the actual act of doing this the way you feel is right is the only way you will truly learn. And learning is a term I use loosely as I believe we all already possess sensitivities beyond those that we are presently aware. I think we are all capable of a higher consciousness, the trick is to find a way of shutting out all unnecessary stimulation and tuning into that hidden wisdom!

Granted there are some who are far more aware of their gifts than others, they were blessed with a mind or personality capable of recognising and taking notice of the things most of us block out. Some of us worry about the mundane far too much for us to give the freedom our minds need to explore beyond the obvious.

Some of us are obsessed or preoccupied with a ‘mission’ we have chosen in life i.e. career, money, beauty, power. All superficial and none of them any use to our true inner selves. Don’t believe me? Then why do the successful, the rich, the beautiful often end up suffering from a range of depressive illnesses? Alcoholism, drug abuse, paranoia - and the list goes on!

What is truly important is what you feel inside, how you feel about yourself and your presence on this earth. Crystal gazing can be a way to come to terms with ‘who you are’. It can help you to find the ‘better’ person within you and form a link with that higher wisdom you may secretly long for.

Crystal gazing can help you find your true purpose in life, it can open your heart to accept love and return it unconditionally. It can pinpoint those niggling problems you constantly have at the back of your mind and it can help to shed light on solutions you may not otherwise have thought of. It can reveal glimpses of the future that may help you in the present. It can heal, repair and rejuvenate. Open your mind and heart, have faith in yourself and you are ready to begin!

THE ART

Art is a form of expression, an individual way of seeing things. So too is the art of crystal gazing a way of visualizing your inner knowledge and wisdom!

Your crystal & your unconscious mind will know the major questions you need to ask at that particular time and therefore you should not try to control your thoughts but ‘empty’ your mind whilst concentrating on the crystal, either held in your hand or placed upon a stand.

Gaze deep into the ball, study it’s intricacies, enjoy it, admire it, send it feelings of love and appreciation. Rotate it and really 'FEEL' it, touch is an important part of your connection with your sphere at this time. Allow all of your senses to freely concentrate upon the ball.

There are different ways that people ‘see’ things while gazing, some may just have feelings or pictures in their ‘minds eye’, others may see shapes in the actual ball that resembles objects or scenes, these will start a thread of thought and gradually meaning will come to you. Personally when gazing I tend to see different things that all lead me back onto a similar thought pattern until I fully understand what it is I am being told.

You are aiming for a kind of trance state, fully awake but deep into meditation. Try to eliminate outside influences as much as possible – I know as much as anyone how hard it can be to find ‘quiet time’, but it doesn’t have to be for hours and the more you get used to doing this the easier it will be for you to return to meditation. I often have quick ‘chats’ when demands are high.

Don’t expect anything ‘awesome’ to happen immediately, this is a gentle art and the benefits will be revealed gradually over time. You should, however, feel energised and more focused each time you gaze. You may come away more certain of solutions to problems or which directions to take – I certainly do! You may, in fact, experience visions beyond those which you anticipated and find you are highly skilled in the art of Crystallomancy!
