So you want your moped to go fast yeah?

Every person who gets a moped, At any age. Never actually intend to "tune" it. Its just because there friends go faster so you just have to compete with them. Well thats my story.

So 1st of all, What moped should you buy?

Well there is alot of choice.

Personally, I would either go for a:

Gilera runner

Peugeot Speedfight[thats mine]

Yamaha Aerox

Piaggio NRG

But if you dont want a moped, but your still 16. Id defiently recommend a RS50 or a MX50. They both use the same engine. But ones like a race rep and one a supermoto.

If your 16 and your bikes goes over 38mph or something like that. you will get in trouble with the police. But dont worry about it.

So lets say you have a Standard Peugeot Speedfight.

If you want to make it fast. There are loads of things you can do.

First off all. Get a powerpipe. There are loads of choice. But the most common ones are LEO VINCI ZX or TT. They will  push your bike from 30mph to around 45-55mph [depending on bike]. There are lots, but just choose the one you want and also depends on your budget. You can easily pick up a brand new one on ebay for less than a 100.

Secondly, I'd recommend a Varitor and clucth.

The clutch will help your acceleration. You will pull away alot faster and smoother. I'd personally get a malossi or polini clutch. These are usually around 50 quid upwards.

The variator, This will help on acceleration and top end. Also depending what rollers you have, The lighter the rollers the more acceleration but less top end. The heavier the rollers the more top end but less acceleration. You usually get supplied with rollers with the variator. these are about 50-70 quid.

 If you have a variator and clutch. and pipe. you bike should be at least hitting 60.

Also buy a new stronger belt to help with the clutch and variator.

To increase more acceleration. You should really buy a new reed block, Bigger inlet manifold and carb.

The reeds are about 30 quid. This helps on petrol and air flow into the engine.

Bigger inlet manifold will increase the petrol flow, Therefore more petrol flow, So quicker acceleration. These are about 25 quid

And you should be aiming for a 19mm or a 21mm carb. Depending on your set up. You will have to change the jets depending on what airbox/filter you have.

With those fitted, Your acceleration should be rapid. Very good for wheelies.

The next BIG thing you could is get a 70cc bore up kit.

This is basically a new engine. you will have to ride it slowly at the beginging. This increasing the size of your head and piston, so will go alot faster on acceleration and top speed. This wont be classed as a "moped"/"scooter" with this in. But there totally worth it. Should easily be hitting 70mph+. I'd recomend a stage 6 or malossi m.h.r or a hebo manson. These should make your bike go fast. and trust me the cars hate it when you can overtake them. You can pick these up from about 80 -170 quid.

Next is a Primary and secondary gear up kit. These will make your engine squeal. Your basically changing the gearing ratio, Your acceleration and top end will be greatly increased. They are about 60 quid for both gears.

By now with all this stuff on it. it should be hitting 75mph at least.

Get it all set up by a professinal. Try and get all your parts by the same company. It does make a little bit of a difference.
