Paypal can be really dumb at times. : eBay Guides

PayPal. Safe. Simple. Smart. 

So they say,  Simple i agree with, but as in simple-minded, Smart as in it stings. A week or so ago i paid about $1000 for goods bought in the US, no problem there, all went through ok, great. Yesterday i bought a $20 item [about £10] through e-bay, to find out when i go to Pay"Pal" that my account is "Limited". No e-mail, no letter no nothing, i buy something, but cannot pay for it?? [Btw i have been with Paypal since day1]. It says "take these steps" change password [done] confirm phone number, [done], next, enter 6 digit code from your letter? What letter, so i ring the invisible company called Paypal, after the usual automated merry-go-round [by which time i'm ready to kill] and get a pleasant but "its not really my problem and i cant do anything" type person, who tells me the letter will be here "next week" probably. Next week !! I need to pay the man, if you had informed me, i would'nt have purchased anything you idiot. "Cant do anything about it" speech is repeated, so i ask why its been "frozen"? Directed to the following info:

"8 Nov. 2007: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has been accessed by an unauthorised third party. We understand that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your account is our primary concern".

There has'nt been any activity since that date, and they cant tell what, if any, activity it is, and this paypal rep is only too keen to point out what a great favour they have done me [while making me look a complete tosser at the same time] and they have limited access to my account? How is that supposed to help if they do'nt know and i cant see anything wrong? And she cant give me a code over the phone as its not done, despite them taking enough info to identify me as me before all this transpires.

I cant even close my account until i get a letter with this code on it, and i'm pretty sure i have had enough and will cancel asap, this has happened before and I was "assured it would not happen again", a phrase thats the most widely used in the 21st century, and the one that means nothing at all.

Paypal, you suck.
