The secrets and the truths of the pendulum are revealed. Learn how to use one. This ancient, mystical, divination tool was used by the Persians, Romans, Greeks, and the Scythians.

WHAT IS A PENDULUM   It is a device used to divine the answer 'yes' or 'no' to questions given to it.  A pendulum can be as elaborate as you want ; a platinum diamond studded ball, or a simple chunk of rusty iron on a piece of string. The essence of it , is that a weight hanging from a ' cord ' can swing ....... This is why pendulums are popular with witches , they are readily made  with anything , for asking anything.

HOW TO USE A PENDULUM  For anyone who is using a pendulum for the first time, the following is to help you become familiar with the workings of one; You do build up a rapport with them, not everyone has the same same direction for 'yes' and 'no' . Before you begin always ask for protection from your spirit guides and state your intention is to work in the ' Light '.  Then hold the pendulum by the top of the chain in one hand and hover above the palm of the other. Wait for it to become still, then ask it to give you the direction for 'yes' , it will swing in a particular direction. Then ask it to become still.  When it does, then ask it to give you the direction for 'no', it will swing in another particular direction different to the one for 'yes'. Then ask it to become still again. Thank it until you work with it again. You will then have been given  2 directions, personal to you, one for 'yes' and one for 'no', so neither of you can be confused ! To start to get an idea of it all I would ask the answer to questions you know the answers to  e.g.  name + address, age, occupation, etc, remembering it must be a strict 'yes' or 'no' answer.  Each time you use it the directions will be the same. When you are familiar with the pendulum you can be more adventurous to diagnose for example illnesses, or search for a lost or stolen object or person. For this hold the pendulum over an atlas, a map, or even a rough sketch of the inside of a room. Whichever is the most appropriate. Slowly hover the pendulum covering the whole area , when your pendulum finds the place you object is, it will swing rapidly. Another way of seeking out answers is to draw a clock face shape , and write answers instead of the numbers 9 to 3.  Hold the pendulum hovering at the centre of the clock and to answer your question it will swing in the direction of one of the answers . There are many variations which can be found in books. When you are really proficient at this you probably will design your own method, which you can keep secret to yourself and your pendulum, or share it with others.

THEORY HOW THE PENDULUM WORKS  It is common belief  that your own guides, spirit friends , whichever term you choose to use , influence the movement of the pendulum psychokinetically, giving you their answer. When you have done several readings you will be able to get the 'hang' of it and  the feel of it all.  Some sceptic people believe that it is your subconscious that directs your hand muscles, so they  'poo poo' it,  Surprisingly  I would be inclined to agree !   Why ?  Because I have faith in who works your subconscious !!  A scientific slant is the pendulum will rid your mind from outside influences and conscious thoughts. The pendulum becomes a point of focus and occupies your consciousness, therefore allowing an open channel.

CARE AND PROTECTION OF A PENDLUM   It is good to cleanse a pendulum before use . It is essential to do this when it is newly acquired. One way of doing this is bathing it in the moonlight or you may rinse in salt water. In time people develop their own style which is right for them.  When not in use,  it is respectful to keep them covered , perhaps in a little draw string bag, a box, or wrapped in fabric. This keeps away any negative vibrations, or in fact any outside vibrations atall,  especially with a crystal pendulum.

 BUYING A PENDULUM   It appears daunting but it is so easy. Just bear in mind aluminium should be avoided because the electrical process used in its manufacture may be disruptive to your auric field, otherwise you will simply you will be drawn to one!  A bit like which puppy out of the litter shall I choose syndrome.  You will look , desparate to find one, dejected because you can't find that special one, and then one will subconsciously attract you, it may not even be the material, shape, colour you imagined, but you will be drawn,  just a little , then as it 'gets' you , you will start to assimilate why it feels special to you, why it is that one that has caught you, you just need to recognise that, and you will bond with it. I did this recently, I have a few pendulums, I was not in the market and one caught my eye. I had to have it. Not atall what I would have chosen ordinarily. When I received it, it was magical, I even have a nick name for it, and it swings so forcefully for me.

Everyone uses a pendulum for the first time and does not know anything.  For example I have never used water divining  ' things', I wouldn’t have a clue !
