I love my Phil & Teds..!  I've had it around 4 months now, my youngest is 12 weeks old.. just wanted to share the plus/minues and provide some extra info to help you decide.  I have tried a number of double buggies over the last couple of years, and is easily my favourite.   If you have, or are planning on having 2 children close together in age, then the versatility of the P&T is great.  I have an older child now at school, so mine has had daily use on the school runs.

I am currently using mine with the cocoon, which is great - we've used it without blankets initially and with them on cooler or windy days.  The top part unzips all the way and can be folded under, so that on the warmest days baby has been plenty cool enough too. Plus, as we walk to school the rocking motion caused by how far down the cocoon hangs seems to send the baby to sleep!!!  On the minus side, at 12 weeks old he is starting to fill it lengthwise, and does tend to rest his feet on the back of the top seat and push himself to the top end...!

The shopping basket can be hard to access with the cocoon in BUT there is a way in.. where the fabric wraps around the uprights of the frame at the back of the buggy there is a popper which can be used to drop the shopping basket for easier access.  I didn't find this out until I had bought the panniers, although the double rain cover about 2/3rds fills one of these, so they are still a useful addition if you are out to shop or for the day.  I tend to put my change bag in the other one that way I can put things underneath I don't need to get out again!

The doubles seat is best taken on or off with a pen or car key - I have found it "eats" my fingers if I try and get it off by hand. The wheels are somehow much easier to get on and off..! Also look out for the L and R on the hinges... the number of times I put them on the wrong way around before I realised those were there!

The buggy did fit in the boot of my Ford Ka, although to do this with the handle on it went in upright, so I tended to take the handle off so it could lie in the boot and the wheels, cocoon and panniers went on top... so don't rule it out if you have a small car.

My 2 1/2 year old loves the "top" seat - she can see more than she could from her other buggy, ie shop counters, over cars as we walk along to school!  I was worried she would keel over if she nodded off, but in fact the scooped shape of the seat means she doesn't somehow.

We've tried the double seat with my youngest, but at the moment the straps come up very high on his head, meaning I have to put something behind him to stop them coming across his face - it doesn't adjust down like the main seat straps do, which seems a bit mad when it will get used for the smaller child in the 2 toddler mode.  Still, at least even he didn't tip over when he nodded off!  We also tried it with my niece, who is nearly 2 - in fact both she and my 2 1/2 year old wanted to be in the back seat - thankfully the weight about the same - they both seemed to love it.

The weight balance changes from the baby and toddler to the 2 toddler mode, but in both cases it can easily be steered with one hand, its not heavy to get up a kerb, and you can see both children very easily.

If you want toys to go on it, look for the Tiny Love ones that velco around a bar - we have used ours both on the front bar, or hanging from the back of the upper seat - the take-along arch doesn't fit on to the frame. Otherwise, the kind that clips on works for the smaller child - again clipped to the back of the top seat when baby is in the cocoon or on the side frame when they are in the seat at the back.

I'd buy one again in a heartbeat.. esp as when the shopping basket came apart at the front corner because I didn't know about dropping it down, my retailer has given me a replacement set of covers!

Hope this has been helpful to you - and not too long..

In summary if you are expecting your first and planning to have another quite soon after.. or your second... go for it, its FAB! It might be expensive, but its a single and a double, so you don't need to change buggies again!
