Both buyers and sellers should be aware of the following if posting to or from the Isle of Wight.

Virtually all post to or from the Island is carried across the water by hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde.

The post arrives in a Post van and is unloaded by Postal staff.  The sacks of mail are then loaded onto the hovercraft by Hovertravel personnel who subsequently unload it on the other side for another postal van to collect.

It matters not how well you package your item or how many 'FRAGILE' stickers you attach to your parcel, they are all in grey sacks so nobody will see them anyway.  They are all treated the same, that is roughly.  The sacks of mail are literally thrown onto and off the hovercraft with no apparent concern for the contents.
