Why is it that so many sellers on ebay list RADLEY bags as 'Limited Editions' when they are not?

RADLEY have actually only produced very few Limited Edition bags to date which all have individual serial numbers and/or inner plaques displaying the Limited Edition number or year of release and are as follows:

COTTAGE - 500 produced Christmas 2004

The very first original Limited Edition RADLEY creation.

BERRIES - Only 40 produced October 2005

Designed for the launch of the very first RADLEY flagship store on the Kings Road, London. A total of just 40 grab-bags were produced in two different colourways (20 of each). Ice Blue as shown and a cool mint/aqua colour. 

There are other later design RADLEY 'Berries' bags which are not Limited Editions and they DO NOT have the 'SPECIAL EDITION 2005' tag on the inside (as shown in the second photograph on the right below).

Just 250 grab bags and 250 tote bags (shown) were produced in this sought after design, both of which came with an accompanying matching purse.

10th ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITIONS

On the 4th October 2008  RADLEY is celebrating it's 10th birthday and as part of the celebrations a brand new range of LIMITED EDITION bags will go on sale on 17th October which include a mixture of revamped popular past designs as well as brand new creations.

Each LIMITED EDITION bag features a newly designed swing tag that features an enamel RADLEY scottie dog and has a silver plaque inside detailing that it is a '10th anniversary Limited Edition'.   

The range includes the following designs:

LADYBIRD (shown above), 10TH ANNIVERSARY POCKET BAG, CANONBURY, BEACHCOMBER, DOTS SHOULDER BAG, LUISA (shown below), RAINBOW HANDLES and the RADLEY EMBOSS.

Despite what many seem to believe, RADLEY 'Signature' bags are NOT Limited Editions even though they have become highly desirable by collectors of late.

Signature bags are produced in their thousands with a new design being released usually twice per year - Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter.

'Limited' means that only a certain number of a particular design was produced.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion with these bags as it appears that many sellers on ebay are declaring their bags 'Limited Editions' in their auction descriptions which is misleading potential bidders and actually an infringement of ebay's selling policies (ie stating false/incorrect information within the description).
