REPRODUCTION CAPES

HI JUST A QUICK GUIDE TO SPOT A REPO CAPE

All of the authentic vinyl capes that were made with the original figures are made of a soft, pliable vinyl and have two distinct surfaces. On one side of an original cape it will be smooth while the other side features a crosshatch pattern. Eventhough you may not be able to see with the naked eye the crosshatch pattern can be seen using a magnifying glass. Also if you run your thumb nail over the crosshatch you can hear it against your fingernail. Armholes of an original cape should fit tightly round the arms of the figure.

fake or repro capes may often match the color of an original but are usualy made of a stiffer vinyl, lack the cross hatching and have generally larger armholes. The most faked cape is the much sort after vinyl jawa. The cape on a loose vinyl jawa should match the jawa perfectly, in colour, and size. fake examples are often made from cut down OBI-WAN capes and such the color will not be correct, and the cut will be crooked
