If you are considering buying a Samsung DVD recorder, first check out their telephone customer support in the UK, it's rubbish. I bought a R119 last year an just as the guarantee ran out, so did it. Everytime you insert a blank disc it comes up, "Protected Disc" I rang Samsung and the guy told me it's a memory fault with the R119 it's has stopped recognizing blank discs. I foolishly bought a Samsung R122 and guess what, after a time it did exactly the same thing. Insert a blank disc and it can't recognize it. It will play pre-recorded ones fine, but it's recording days are over. I again rang Samsung UK and a technician informed me it was probably a memory fault, this machine does that ! So both Samsungs I owned had memory faults. I looked up other reviews on the net and found that several other buyers had the same problem with not only these two Samsung models, but other Samsung DVD recorders as well.
A short answer is, AVOID Samsung.
