Many TomTom software packages are displayed when you search ebay and a fair price for a genuine copy is around £100.

If you have searched in the past, you may have seen it for £25, £10 or even £4.99.. 

BEWARE!! Anyone who claims they are selling you a copy of TomTom for those sort of prices are BATENTLY SCAMMING YOU by selling you an illegal pirated copy.

It amazes me why they do it, THEY COULD GO TO JAIL yet they still do it. eBay do remove them but this does not stop these dishonest people relisting them. DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF

Product code required

Every genuine copy of TomTom is supplied with an unique official TomTom product code supplied on a plastic card that looks like this..

The code is hidden by a piece of paper.

Any genuine copy of TomTom software will come with one of these cards and will not run without being activated.
To activate, you have to go to tomtom website, enter the product code from the card, then enter the device code from the Pocket PC or Mobile and then the TomTom site gives you an activation code to enter into the device to start your TomTom software working.
Without a product code, your TomTom will not work also, the Product code can only be used 3 times on 3 different devices, first time, then seven days later on a second device with device code then, after six months..

Cracked copies

Some sellers offering TomTom software may claim that the software they are selling does not require a product code. In this case, it is most likely supplied with a Crack. For those of you not up on what Crack means, basically it means that a hacker has cracked into the TomTom main application file and hot wired it to run without a valid activation..

I strongly advise anyone against using Cracked versions of TomTom because they can damage your device and also the software does not run properly. Points of interest crash, GPS signals sometimes fail and pocket PC's and Mobile phones freeze after 5 minutes of TomTom being run..

If you are in the market for TomTom Software, Buy a genuine copy as it is the only way to guarantee you do not get ripped off by scam artists.

If they can sell illegal copies of commercial software, they certainly will not provide you with a good level of customer service..

It amazes me how they think they can get away with it!! after all, you would not see them selling pirated DVD's or unauthorized copies of Windows.. And would you pay out for those if you knew they were illegal copies?
