I offer this information FREE.  I am not like other runescape sellers on ebay who make you pay 99p or whatever for a runescape safety guide,  I do not believe in making you pay to know how to keep your Runescape account safe.

I know I most runescapers already know all the common runescape scams etc...

But I am just so worried as so much scaming on runescape takes place everyday.

I am what you can call "A Runescape Addict",  But,  oh well,  im writing this guide for the better of fellow runescape players.

I have produced a list of common runescape scams,  and not so common ones that still take place,  and how to avoid them,  how to know when they are taking place,  and what rules they are violateing:

Scam name) The void amount

The scam)   In  many of the trades done in your runescapeing carreer,  you will come accross this scam,  I CAN GUARENTEE YOU.  What happens is the scammer offers your 45k for an item.  The scammer is normally experienced,  and also a lowlife,  so they know when your going to click accept,  it comes naturally,  If someone knows when your going to accept a trade it doesnt mean there a scammer,  I can roughly know when the person i trade with will accept,  and im lvl 124,  doesnt mean im a scammer.  So the scammer offers your 45k for an item you were selling for that price.  Then as he knows roughly when your going to accept he quickly changes the amount to 4.5k,  then you dont realise,  and you accept without looking at the second trade window,  and BOOM,  you just got payed 4.5k for an item worth 45k.

How to avoid) Check the second trade screen window.

Rule broken:  Item scaming.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scam Name)  Jagex Impersonation

The scam)  Mostly,  it is just some noobs,  who make a free,  lvl 3 account,  make it a name like "Jag3x M 0 D" Or J mod ___.  Then they will go on F2P worlds,  and go to innocent runescape players,  mostly lower lvls,  and say there a jagex mod,  and stuff such as:  Your account will be deleted if you do not provide me with this information,  Your password,  Your recovery details. OR Here at jagex we would like to make you become " A player Moderator "  You can read about player moderators on our homepage under the player moderators section (So the victim thinks it is true as there is a player moderators section),  Then the scammer will go,  all i need is your pass and i can change your account to moderator status.  All of this is a load of rubbish.

How to avoid)  TO EASY.  ALL real Jagex moderators have a gold crown before there name when they speak,  so you know if there a Jagex mod or not,  and also Jagex WILL NEVER ASK YOU FOR YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Rule broken)  Impersonating a jagex mod

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scam name:  Luring

The scam:  This consists of 2 runescape players.  I will show you an example.

These names do not exist in runescape,  i have just made them up as examples.

Victim:  Jeff. (lvl 92) Scammer 1) Bob. (lvl 54) Scammer 2)  Bill. (lvl 93)

Jeff is selling a 1k yew logs for 200k on the Runescape forums.

Bob contacts Jeff through a Private Message,  And says he will buy Jeffs yew logs for 280k. Jeff is thinking OMG what a deal.

Bob tells Jeff,  Can he meet him just north east of edgeville,  as he is cutting trees.

So Jeff thinks "Ok,  sure"  He goes there,  and sees bob cutting some trees.  Jeff goes up to Bob and clicks trade.  Bob accepts the trade,  and Jeff didnt realise he stood into lvl 1 wildy.  This is were Bill comes in.  Bill was hiding a bit north of were Bob and Jeff were.  Jeff was Private Messageing Bill telling him when to come in.  Jeff stood in lvl 1 wildy,  Bill ran down,  Entangled him + Teleblocked Him + DDS'ED and Whiped him.  Jeff dies,  and loses his 997 Yew logs,  as if he wasnt skulled he would have kept 3.  Bill and Bob make over 100k profit each...

How to avoid)  If your selling suddenly offers like 100k more than your selling at,  that is a sign,  or if he is  being difficult and wont come to edgy bank when he is just 20 seconds away.

Rule broken)  Item scaming

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scam Name)  You cant say your pass! ****

The scam)  Some noob will say "Wow Jagex blocks your pass now look! ******" Or "Jagex's new server blocks your pass! See! ******.  RUBBISH,  they are lieing,  and just pressing the star key, RUNESCAPE DOES NOT BLOCK YOUR PASSWORD.  The purpose of it,  is that you try it,  thinking it will come up in stars,  then it doesnt,  the scammer sees it and trys to log on your account,  but dont worry if you keep yourself logged on,  You must be very quick and QUICKLY change your pass by opening up another I.E. window.  Or if you cant,  then bank all your items,  make sure you have a bank pin set,  quickly go to the main menu and change it via that.

How to avoid)  Dont EVER say your password to anyone

Rule broken) Password Scaming

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scam Name) Alt+F4 DOUBLES your item!

The scam)  The scammer will come up to you,  he will see if your wearing any good stuff,  then if you are,  he will say,  want to know how to double the item without macroing?  You go "YEAH"!!!!.  Just drop it on the ground for 1 second hit ALT AND F4 and it doubles it straight away,  and dont worry i wont be able to pick it up as this takes literaly 3 seconds and i wouldnt be able to see it till a minute after its droped.  So you drop your item hit ALT AND F4...And all Alt+F4 does is close your browser,  logs you out of runescape,  and the scammer picks up your item and runs of.

How to avoid)  YOU CANT DUPE ITEMS,  So you know there lieing.

Rule broken) Item scaming

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scam Name)  The stare + remove trade.

The scam)  The scammer will offer you for example: 80k for your rune plate,  fair enough,  its a good deal for both of you,  you put your rune plate up,  he puts up 80k and you accept,  then  he adds in a mith plate,  and your thinking,  cool,  and accept,  but whilest you were distracted by the black legs he changed his amount to 8k,  you dont realise,  and accept,  and BANG you just traded a rune plate for 8k + blk legs.

How to avoid)  Always check the second trade screen window

Rule broken) Item scaming

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scam Name)  The "I dont want it know" scam.

The scam)  This involves 3 players.  Ill use Jeff, Bob and Bill again, LOL. (poor jeff).

Jeff - victim,  Bob - Scammer 1,  Bill - Scammer 2.

Jeff  and Bob are in the same place (Most likley a busy bank).  Bob goes "Tradeing Whip for a Rune Plate, plz i really need the plate".  Jeff is thinking,  right.... Then about 10 seconds later Bill walks in and goes "Selling rune plate 250k".  Jeff thinks,  If i buy that for 250k,  and then trade it for the whip,  i make 3.25M profit... So Jeff buys the rune plate of Bill for 250K.  Then goes up to Bob and says "Ill trade ya ma rune plate 4 ur whip".  Bob will go,  Nope,  sorry dont need it now.  Then bob and bill will run of with 250k,  wich jeff payed for an item worth 70k.

How to avoid)  You cant really tell,  if you see someone who will trade a good item for a bad item,  then about 10 seconds later someone comes in with the bad item and is selling it for like 50% more than its worth,  then its a scam most likely.

Rule broken)  Item scaming

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scam name)  FREE ARMOUR TRIMING

The scam)  Im sure everyones heard of this classic,  so old lol,  The scammer goes in a bank,  "Free armour triming".  Then someone gives the scammer there armour and they think it will be trimed,  then the scammer either runs of or logs out with the players armour.  You can get trimed armour but ONLY FROM TRESURE TRAILS.  PLAYERS CANT TRIM ARMOUR.

How to avoid)  No such thing as armour triming,  so you know its a scam

Rule broken)  Item scaming

**BONUS SAFETY TIPS**

*Always check your second trade screen window.

*Always report a scammer for the rule they broke,  so jagex can ban them and the amount of scammers decreases.

*NEVER give our your personal details,  E.g. Credit Card Num,  Passwords,  Address etc...

*If you think your being riped off on a trade,  and your paying to much for an item,  you can always check the prices of items,  on the OFFICAL RS2 forums,  go onto the "item discussion seciton",  and there is a sticky of item price guide at the top.

*Dont talk to a scammer,  if you know there scaming people,  they could be a hacker and hack you.

*If you ever see someone who is falling for a scam,  Do the decent thing and tell them there being scamed, I recomend Private messageing them,  but if there chat is off or on friends, tell them that there being scamed,  the peg it off or log out so the hacker cant see who you are

*Set recovery questions encase you lose\forget your password
