Introduction to fuel pressure regulators.

The fuel pressure regulator ensures that a vehicles fuel pressure is kept constant. As the fuel pressure can impact on the amount of fuel discharged throught the injector cycle it is vital that this pressure is kept consistant and with this aim excess fuel is sent back to the fuel tank through the fuel return circuit located within the regulator. It is a common practice for fuel pressure regulators to be swapped for aftermarket versions in order to supply and configure fuel pressure on high performance applications. This generally occurs when a vehicle has been modified and needs more fuel as a result. Generally the fuel map inside the standard engine management system cannot be altered so an increase in fuelling can be acheived by increading the fuel pressure regulator. Furthermore, when fuel demand are greater standard regulators have trouble regulating supply and fuel pressure spikes can occur. Regulators are essential for the high demands of a performance tuned engines.

Sard fuel pressure regulators are designed to provide the correct fuel pressure for any high performance fuel injected vehicle especially those using high flow aftermarket fuel injectors.

These regulators come in two basic types: the Standard Type Sard fuel regulator that is designed and usually chosen for applications up to 450bhp and the Type RJ Sard regulator that is designed and usually chosen for big power applications of 450bhp upwards. These regulators are available with two different fittings: 8mm hose nipple or an AN#6 adaptor bolt.

These regulators are designed by Sard for ease and universability of fitment. Hence, for many vehicle applications this item is simply a direct swap for the standard OE fuel pressure regulator. Vehicles that need to remove standard regulator from the fuel rail will require the Sard fuel rail adaptor in order to install this product.

 Sard fuel rail adaptors are available for Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Subaru and Mazda vehicles. These dedicated adaptors are used for installing the regulator on vehicles that need to remove the standard regulator from the fuel rail. These adaptors are blue alumite coating only. Sard do not make adaptors in any other colour so if you see them differently you know they are not from Sard.

Buying a Sard Regulator.

Do ensure you purchase your Sard regulator from a reputable source. Fake and counterfeit Sard regulators are on the increase and very difficult to distinguish from the real thing. Some interesting stories have been circulating the internet that claim that you can spot a counterfeit from the amount of dots on the regulators. Futhermore it is claimed that this is information published by SARD themselves. This is simply not true. Sard have released no such guideline and the dots in question are simply a tiny visible difference between Type RJ (one dot) and Standard Type (two dots). Counterfeiters within countries such as Malaysia and China have become very good at visibly duplicating genuine items. Often the first indication that you will have that you have purchased a fake is when it lets you down under pressure, unable to consistently supply the fuel pressure demanded by tuned vehicles. Fake SARD regulators also have a tendency to leak around the seams and rivets when placed under load.  Remember that the old adage 'if it looks to good to be true it probably is' applies even to ebay. Your vehicle's fuelling is too important to take chances with. 

Optional extra.......Sard Fuel Regulator Setting Meter.

This item is an optional extra tool which can assist you in making optimal adjustments and corrections to fuel pressure under various loads. The fuel regulator setting meter is on a 0-800Kpa scale and includes meter fuel hose, 4 hose bands, 2x 8mm 1/8 Nipples, 3 way nipple and all plugs/bolts needed for easy installation. This meter is only available in black. If you see it adverised in any other colour you can be sure it is not a genuine Sard!
