)Hi Eveyone!
Schuh has now been selling on eBay for the best part of 3 years now, and it only recently that we have decided to start letting our fellow eBay community members from around the world buy our shoes! Yes some of you may be thinking its been a bit slow on our side to open up to the global market, but we had our reasons for not doing it. First we wanted to get all of our back office systems in place and make sure they could cope with every eventuality that we could through at them. So, we think we have got them pretty much spot on, and with help from Channel Advisor and a few others alone the way, we think we are now ready to let everyone have a fair crack at getting their hand on a pair of shoes from Schuh on eBay.
So we started with a soft launch, and opened up to EU community first, and i cannot claim that we have been swamped with orders, but there has been a steady flow, and we are not having any major issues with any part of our processes.
Then came the US, and i thought we would do really well over in the states as we have a completely different product range to guys like Grapevinehill & Designer Athletic. One problem we have encoutered though is the shipping cost to the states...why would someone want to spend $30 on a pair of shoes and then have to pay another $30 on shipping charges?
Unfortunatley due to us selling small quantities worldwide, we do not have any kind of leverage with our courier UPS for us to go to them and try and drop the price. So we just have to carry on as we are for present and review the situation as we go along. We are working with UPS to try and strike up some form of a realistic price for global shipping, but this is something that is not going to happen overnight! Some of you may say "Why dont you just send your parcels through Royal Mail?". Well its simple really...yes Royal Mail offer a realistic shipping price, but their customer service is still stuck in the dark ages. UPS has a global tracking module, so we can see where our parcels are at any time of the day, and we pass this information onto the customers, so they can see it to.
So, we just go along with the options that we have at the moment, and pray for a more cost effective solution in the very near future. At last though we do offer the eBay community worldwide to buy our shoes, and we just want you all to know, we are working on our shipping charges, and keep an eye out for us as we will come in with a more reasonable price. Just for the record though, we do not make any profit on any of our shipping charges, and we welcome any eBay member to look this up...shipping is starting to be a very expensive part of online shopping nowadays, due to all sorts of things going on in the world...lets all hope that someday soon things will settle down!
