A favourite trick of the second chance offer scammer is to email you and pretend he is the seller of an item you were not the high bidder on.

He offers you a second chance offer at a ridiculously low price and because it appears to have been sent via eBay you think you have a bargain.  Many people lose out by accepting the second chance offer and eBay will not be able to offer you any compensation.

It is very easy to check whether the second chance offer came via eBay.

1)   If the second chance offer came via eBay it will have an item number in it, this will not be the number of the original listing but will be a NEW number.

All you need to do is to put this OPEN a new browser window. number into the eBay search engine.OPEN a new browser window to do this, DO NOT click any links in the second chance offer email.

If the item appears on eBay you are well on your way to a genuine offer.

2)   Go to the original listing and click the contact the seller link. Write to the seller and ask if the offer is genuine.

3)   Ask a friend to put the NEW number into the eBay search engine. If your friend CANNOT see the item it is genuine. The reason is because only the person who has been sent a second chance offer can see the item.

If any of the above produce a failed result do not enter into any correspondence with the originator of the email, IT  IS A SCAM.
