Skinny tie trend have been on the scene for some time, and they will
be sticking around for quite a bit longer. We saw them at the Oscars
and Golden Globes on the likes of Matt Dillon and Johnathan
Rhys-Meyers, on countless runways, and on the hippest guys on the
street. They may be challenging to wear, but they have a distinctive
look that makes them a favorite. A tiny bit geek, a tiny bit chic, skinny ties have an attitude that’s all their own.
These skinny designer ties aren’t just available in black anymore.
We’ve got a slight Miami Vice groove going on with colorful ties in
florals, stripes, and tiny, dense geometric patterns, and they are
complemented by linen suits, deep v-necked sweater separates,
lightweight gray jackets, and loose shorts.
On the Runways

Alessandro Dell’Aqua
Alessandro Dell’Aqua’s collection had monochrome skinny ties on matching grounds like button-down tees and oxford shirts. His khaki-on-khaki combination was very successful, combining a
patterned shirt in a deep tan with a lighter khaki slim tie. It puts a
twist on the typical patterned tie/plain shirt combination.

Lanvin
Lanvin’s skinnies are outstandingly noticeable and quite slim. These
ties are shiny, solid, and often contrasting with the shirt beneath.
Lanvin’s suits had a touch of shine as well, making the combinations
even more eyecatching. The color palette for the ties varied between
muted neutrals and deep, bold shades of navy and chocolate.
Narciso Rodriguez
Narciso Rodriguez offers the best of classic skinny ties. Medium gray
suits with a tweed effect were worn with classic black skinny and white
dress shirts. For a touch of flair with the traditional white shirt,
white satin ties also found their place on the runway.
Rag & Bone
Rag & Bone had slightly fitted suits with straight legs worn with
ties in matching gray flannel and midnight black. With high leather boots. nd a slight rumpled look, these ties are boosted into the realm of hip.
How to Wear
Wear your skinny ties with an equally modern suit. Your look won’t
be the same if you’ve got a big, boxy suit from past seasons. Wear a
suit with a newer updated shape to show off your skinny tie to its
fullest.
