Looking After Your Furniture...
Do not place solid wood furniture in direct sunlight for prolonged periods or close to a radiator (over time this may cause fading and heat expansion cracks to occur).
During use, surfaces should be protected with coasters and place mats. Do not place wet or hot items directly onto the furniture surface and wipe up spills immediately.
You can keep your furniture dust free by spraying a small amount of furniture polish onto a cloth, simply wipe over and buff to a shine.
Do not use oil based polishes as these will make your surfaces become sticky and may act as a solvent for the wax layers.
Do not allow your furniture to become too damp or too dry. Your furniture is a natural product and will react accordingly.
Any surface marks on rustic pine can be smoothed out using a well wrung hot damp cloth. If needed, when dry your rustic furniture can be re waxed using a lint free cloth.
A soft grade wire wool can be used on smooth pine, followed by a re wax. For deeper scratches use a very hot damp cloth with firm pressure. When dry use wire wool followed by a re wax.
Waxing Guide
Choose a good quality furniture wax such as Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish.
Use a clean lint free cloth to apply the wax in the direction of the grain where possible. A small brush can be used to get into any hard to reach areas. To achieve a uniform colour, always apply the wax evenly applying a little pressure. Remove any excess with another clean cloth. Leave the wax to dry for three minutes before buffing to a shine.
Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish is available in six colours from Solid Wood Interiors.
