Yet another method being used by scammers to try to obtain the account name and password of unwary eBay members.
The scammer writes to eBay members using the email address they have registered with eBay. Usually the scammer will have obtained the email address by using the ask seller a question facility.
The email looks very much like an eBay semt message with all the usual eBay graphics, design and logos, it will also have a false eBay username and the text will be similar to this.....
Hello,
What`s happening ? I sent you the merchandise already 2 weeks ago and never hear from you again !! If you don`t reply within the next 12 hours, i will report you to eBay and local authoryties. Hope to resolve this issue in a professional manner.
Thank you!
Of course you will know it is a scam because who sends out the auction item before being paid and you would know if you had bought something from the supposed user. Also the 'report it' link at the bottom right of the email does not work.
What to do?.
DO NOT RESPOND TO IT
DO NOT CLICK ANY OF THE LINKS
There is also no point in reporting it to eBay as eBay can, and will do, nothing at all about it. But if you do want to report it go to the HELP pages and click on the CONTACT US link.
