This scam is aimed at sellers only.
The seller gets and email, which doesn't even look as if it came from eBay as it has no eBay graphics of any kind, telling the seller a bid has been retraced on one of the sellers items.
Some of these scammers are really stupid for believing that anyone would believe their scam emails are genuine but here is an example of the emails.......
Dear eBay Community Member,
A previously entered bid on your item
AT THIS POINT THERE IS A URL WITH AN ITEM NUMBER
has been retracted or cancelled.
You can view the retraction/cancellation and the reason provided by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page.
As a result of this retraction/cancellation, there is a possibility that the high bid amount and the current high bidder have changed. You can always view the current status of any item by going to the individual item page. (Be sure to refresh or reload the page to view the most up-to-date information.)
Regards,
eBay
If you were to click on to the URL you would be taken to a false eBay website and asked for your account name and password.
If you receive one of these emails delete it. Do not follow the link and do not reply to it. There is also no point in reporting it to eBay as eBay can, and will do, nothing at all about it.
