There is a new form of scam being used by unscrupulous sellers.

The sellers list popular items at very favourable buy it now prices. The prices are not so low as to be looked upon with suspicion but are low enough to appear to be a great bargain.

The listing says that Paypal is the only form of payment which will be accepted and often it also states that payment must be made immediatly.

The seller then sends the buyer and envelope which is recorded delivery. Most times the envelope will state that the item has been dispatched but sometimes it is empty.

The item never arrives. The customer tries to do a chargeback via Paypal but the seller proves that not only did he send the item but the buyer even signed for it. The seller proves this by producing proof that the buyer signed for a recorded delivery item which was sent by him. THE envelope the buyer signed for.

The buyer loses their money!.

I don't know what you can do to protect yourself but if you buy something like this and get an envelope saying the item has been sent CONTACT Paypal immediately and tell them you think that something fraudulent is going on.
