Yet another new attempt by the scammer to obtain an eBay members account password and details.

This one is targeted at sellers and the seller receives an email via eBay with claims of seeing a duplicate listing of something the seller already has on eBay.

The text of the scam email is...

Hello, My name is James Bright. I am interested in your item.The problem is that i am a litle confuse because i've seen another item exactly like yours.Please take a look:

HERE THERE IS A URL. THIS IS A FALSE URL AND TAKES YOU TO A FALSE EBAY WEBSITE WHERE YOU WILL BE ASKED YOUR ACCOUNT NAME AND PASSWORD IT WILL ALSO CONTAIN A LISTING NUMBER

Please let me know your last price

...Because the email does come via eBay many sellers would fall for this. However the URL does not have eBay in it and that is the tell tale.

If you get something similar and are unsure all you need to do is to copy the item number in the email and paste it into the search engine on eBay. You will soon see if this is genuine or not. NEVER paste the URL in the email inot your browser address bar.

If it is false click on the REPORTING IT link on the right of the email and report the scammer to eBay.
