Self sufficiency is a long way off for us and our garden but we are grasping the ethos of the "dig in " campaign I am still 125 people away from my own allotment apparently that is the length of the list?I'm extremely displeased that I cannot be accommodated with an allotment especially as they are building on one whole site in my area, I keep sending my numerous photos of bad allotment keeping literally over the road from my house but to no avail.

Despite this lack of allotment and our Big Dreams our small reality is thus container gardening,  you will have space somewhere to grow your own own use used tomatoes tins with holes punched in the bottom  ideal to grow herbs, any window cil can be used for herbs, lettuce , sprouting beans, or Even tumbling tomatoes as I said we have lack of space but more importantly lack of light so our vegetables etc are now on the decking hubbys BBQ is at the bottom of the Garden now!we have this year  with the help of our "burgan and Ball" willow planters quite a lot of fruit and vegetables growing, they are as follows  a tayberry climbing over bent willow sticks, blueberry potted ,strawberries potted an olive tree in flowers, courgettes, runner beans scrambling over a metal Arch, french beans, radish, lettuce, carrots onions, garlic, spring onions, broccoli ,hanging Tomatoes and potatoes the herb garden is home to ( not enough)rocket, sage, parsley, coriander, mint, rosemary and thyme with sweet basil potted on our window If we can do it so can anybody it just takes a few seeds a visit to your local nursery and imagination. 

I have grown all my herbs from seeds or by just planting out the supermarket ones and despite being warned that they will not take they have and are doing well.

A nice way to grow herbs in a cottage garden style is to use a reclaimed butlers sink from a salvage yards these look so pretty planted to bursting and herbs flopping down the sides.

Another Idea is just to plant edible hanging baskets, use water gel crystals to save on watering plant your largest plant in the middle IE rosemary and surround this with a tomato tumberlinea and thyme

 today is a delightful warm sunny day the hens are clucking in the deep boarders and laying delightful eggs but the lack of space is hindering our ultimate dream to produce enough to sustain us at least for the spring and summer season ah well I had better think of more container ideas.
