So , youve seen a nice little renault laguna mk2 ,
yes its a good looking car , now for the bad points
Mine was a fully serviced 1.8 dinamique 70k on the clock
main bad points all lagunas seem to have
Tyre sensors play up in cold weather (can be cured by checking you have the correct wheel in the right place)
its got auto locking doors , as soon as you go over 6kph the doors lock , if you'r in an accident , they will have to smash their way in as they dont unlock until you open the door from the inside
the power steering pump works on a valve , where as the faster you drive the less it need to assist or pump , now and again the valves go , resulting in hard steering at low speeds , can make pulling into parking spaces dangerous
drivers seat lumber supports are 1st to break
air con control unit backligh blows resulting in not being able to see the info at night (£480 new)
key cards internal buttons break (£80 new
the emergency entry lock (under passenger door handle ) are usually seized up , so you cant get in anyway
seat belts fail to recoil, seat belt sockets stop working .
if your hand break fails , its the rear brake caliper seized, there not cheap and renault tell me they seize up ALL the time , although you can tighten the handbrake by looking at the bottom of your centre console box, there is a small flap , lift this to reveal the handbreak tightening nut .
door electrics start to go, courtesey lights, etc
well every car has good and bad points but laguna parts dont come cheap and usually have to be ordered
of course you MAY GET LUCKY , but a recent survey in the Uk revealed the type of car most found at a garage for repairs is a Renault 60 %
Good luck , jase
