TRAVEL ADAPTORS - which adaptor do I need?

Here at Starfish Direct Travel Shop we receive more questions about Travel Adaptors than any other .   We’ve decided to produce this simple guide to assist you in making the right choice of adaptor for your requirements.

1. First then, take a look at the four lists below.  Each one has an identifier code (a TYPE).  The first TYPE you'll need to note is the list containing the country where you live or containing the country where your appliance originates, if different.  
2. Next, you'll need to find the list featuring the country where you'll be travelling to.  

• TYPE G

Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Brunei, Cameroon, Channel Islands, China, Cyprus, Dominica, El Salvador, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Hong Kong, Iraq, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macau, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Tanzania, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.  

Your appliance will typically be fitted with a plug which looks like: 

  Type G (UK type 3 PIN)

• TYPE C

• TYPE A

Your appliance will typically be fitted with a plug which looks like: 

Type A (US/Canadian 2 Pin Flat)

• TYPE I 

 American Samoa, Argentina, Australia, China, El Salvador, Fiji, Guatemala, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Okinawa, Panama, Papua New Guinea, St. Vincent, Tajikistan, Tonga, Uruguay .

Your appliance will typically be fitted with a plug which looks like: 

Type I (AUS/South Pacific 3 Pin Inverted)

3.  Having selected the type of plug on the end of your appliance and then the type based on the country you wish to use the appliance, it's now very simple indeed - pick your travel adaptor!   

Type G to C adaptor (UK 3 PIN to SCHUKO 2 PIN rounded mains)

Type G to A/I adaptor (UK type 3-PIN to 2-PIN flat US/Canadian/AUS/South Pacific mains)

The prongs slide alllowing use in both A & I type mains

Type C to G adaptor (2 PIN rounded SCHUKO plug to UK style 3 PIN mains)

Type A or I to G adaptor (AUS/NZ/SOUTH PACIFIC/US/CANADIAN 2 PIN flat or inverted  plug for use in UK 3 PIN type mains)
