Don't secure your luggage and bags without using a TRAVEL SENTRY lock if you are visiting the United States of America.  Security remains tight and it is not uncommon for a delay of up to 2-hours processing luggage off external and internal flights.

If airport security personnel need to inspect your checked bag, they no longer need to cut your locks or force the bag open and risk damaging it.  Travel Sentry(TM) locks allow TSA to open your locks and re-lock your bags, sending them quickly on their way.

You set your own combination code on the lock.  There is a unique code on the barrel exclusively for the benefit of the Transport Security Administration personnel.  They don't need to ask you for this code - your bags may be checked, okayed, then be placed back on the carousel.

If you travelling without the Travel Sentry Certified lock, you may be refered to a booth where a personal examination may take place, and it is not uncommon that locks are forced open resulting in damage to your cases / baggage. 

Of course, if you are travelling with a suitcase purchased outside of the U.S. , with a personal combination setting, what use is a TRAVEL SENTRY lock?  In the U.S., you may purchase TSA approved suitcases with the TRAVEL SENTRY combination code as a fixed lock.  Unless you have this product, it may seem irrelevant to purchase this item. 

If you are travelling to the U.S., use a luggage strap without a combination lock.  Secure this with the TRAVEL SENTRY lock as per your preferred setting.  Set the suitcase to the 3-digit code on the barrel of the TRAVEL SENTRY lock.  Attach a secure I.D. tag to the strap.  On the reverse, add the code to open the suitcase. 

* secure means an I.D. tag that needs special effort to disclose personal information, unlike paper tags usually provided by travel agents with tickets.

The TRAVEL SENTRY lock works just as well as any other combination lock, therefore if you are visiting any other country, it'll work just like any other security device.

• Let's not forget: the objective of any luggage lock is ensuring that your luggage is not taking aside when out of your site from departure and then on arrival.
• If you've secured your cases and baggage, it's a hassle for thieves during this period.  There will be easier catches.
• If you are are visiting the U.S. or travelling internally, you need to offer inspection to the Transport Security Administration.  You can either use a TRAVEL SENTRY product or risk delay in handling, at worst, broken locks.
