Domain Name Registration Transfers

**

All .UK domain name registrations have to be transferred via Nominet UK.

Generally domain name registration is for a period of two or more years, needing constant re-registration to keep the domain name active.

All UK domain name registrations come with a registration certificate from Nominet.

Most .UK registrations are done through a registrar/agent of Nominet. These registrars, host/store the domain name on a web server to keep the name active until a web site is required. These providers generally include e-mail services with their hosting services. Domain name re-registration fees are then paid to these domain name registrars.

.com, .net, .org etc... registrations are dealt with along similar lines but by a registrar only, they do not come with additional certificates or paperwork.

When you purchase an already registered domain name the seller will arrange for it to be transferred to your chosen registrar account. For .UK domain names you should be supplied with a completed Transfer of Domain Name Registration document from Nominet UK along with a confirmatory letter and proof of address for the full completion of the name transfer.

Visit  Nominet.Org.UK  for more details
