When you have the unfortunate situation of an item not selling,Ebay give you the option to re-list it..Like me you may not think it worth relisting,so you delete the item.
Why not use this to your advantage.....SELL A DIFFERENT ITEM....and if the item sells the second time round ,eBay will refund the Insertion Fee for the relisting.
As long as you use the original item number,you can change the item,description,picture ...
There does not seem to be any info saying you can not do this,but read the conditions of relisting an item on the ebay 'site map' link.
Hope this helps,and it may just save ebayers a few ££££/$$$$$
