HOW TO REPLACE A SHOCK CORD ON THE WILKINSON SWORD DARTMOOR KNIFE CSK185

Importantly, DO NOT pull the broken Shock Cord from the top (ie, by the elastic).  Using a pair of thin long-nosed pliers (the type of pliers fitted to some larger Victorinox Swiss Army Knives are also suitable), grip the metal crimp from the bottom of the housing on the Belt Hanger, and pull the Shock Cord downwards and out.

Fitting the replacement Shock Cord is a reverse of the above.  Grip the crimp in your pliers, and push the elastic up and through the bottom of the housing.  Halfway up is a cut-out for you to poke the elastic through and push it up through the top of the housing.  (You may need to fiddle a bit for the elastic to poke through the cut-out).  Once it does, grip the crimp as firmly as you can, and push the crimp as deep into the housing as it will go (no deeper than the cut-out).  Ensure that the crimp goes in level, not slanted.

This Procedure may also be used to change the Shock Cord for left-handed use.
