Weight training hooks are a grip aid. They let you lift without your grip being the weak link. They are also good for improving the mind-muscle connection on exercises where it is hard to feel the target muscle, like back exercises. Ordinarily, when performing pulldowns or rows, most people tend to over-engage their arms and a result they feel their arms working harder than their backs. With hooks, you only have to maintain a light grip which takes the load off your arms and on to your back muscles. I use "One Ton Hooks". Having researched the market I found this brand to be the sturdiest.
