Cold cast pewter is a relatively new material which has been developed over the last 20 years or so. Becoming a very popular choice recently for use in the Manufacturing of Sculptures and Figurines due to the stunning finish achievable and the very tactile feel of the finished works. As cold cast resin or bronze is made without the use of a furnace the manufacturing costs are greatly reduced hence the retail price of the pieces are much more affordable than foundry pewter or bronze would be. The level of detail achievable is also much greater than the foundry equivalent.  

Cold cast Pewter is made by the combination of a resin and powdered pewter and a catalyst manufactured at room temperaure (this is a chemical process not molten plastic poured into a mould) . Firstly the mould is lined with the resin and pewter(or bronze) composite which forms the outer layer of the figurine, it is then filled with high quality resin and left to harden. The mould is then turned out and the sculptures will then be finished and polished by hand to give a very high quality appearance and supremely tactile to the touch. The weight of cold cast pewter is also pleasingly substantial but not as heavy as genuine pewter by any means.
