For the last few eeeks we have been testing the Beta 2 Build 5384 release of Windows Vista on a variety of PCs.
Microsoft have released a final version of the Software to Manufacturers like Epson and it will only be a few weeks before you will be able to buy a PC with Vista installed on it.
We can share the following finding with you, but please bear in mind that we are using a pre-release version with known bugs which should be fixed by now in the OEM and Retail versions.
We suggest the following minimum specification :-
- 1Gb of Memory - it uses about 700mb just to get to the desktop.
- 64Bit Processor
- 20Gb Hard Disk Space is required for a base install and systems restore points.
- An AGP or PCI-E Graphics Card, not an integrated version.
- DVD Rom
We have ran Vista on 32bit PCs and on PCs with less RAM but it is very poor and all of the new graphical feature had to be turned off.
We predict that this high standard will see either and end to cheap Laptops and Desktops or a slow uptake in Vista PC Sales.
